Biography

As a self-taught painter on a perpetual quest for renewal, I've never stopped experimenting and exploring the infinite range of freedom offered by artistic expression. Here are my stories...

Born in London in 1966, I land in France at the age of 3. I grew up and worked in Paris until 2005. After spending a few years in the Somme, I moved to the Tarn in 2011, where I am actively pursuing my artistic project.

It all began in 1991, while I was working in fashion in Paris. A meeting with a painter from Avignon ( natinath ) triggered a fascination for a previously unknown universe, a lifestyle imposed itself to me like a revelation, creation became then a necessity, a vital need for my equilibrium, a mean to communicate. My path will be artistic...

End 1995, I show my first "lightning-sculptures" under the name of "PK Lights" (luminous assemblages made of recycled objects, wood, metal, old kitchen utensils...), followed in 1997 by the "tableaux-assemblages" (small, naïve, humorous with characters, assemblage of pieces of wood and rust metal, and collages (mainly old paper). In 2003 the charachters gradually fade away to make way for abstract painting. After experimenting various types of paints, from the most noble to the most toxic, I choose acrylic paint for its ease of use and its quick drying.

Black and white or color, it's not a question of mood, it's through gesture and energy that I convey my emotions.

From figurative to abstract artworks, from assemblages to collages, paintings to photography, the diversity of my past and recent creations reflects the pleasure I take in constantly experimenting. For me, the studio is the land of all freedoms... I never know in advance what I'm going to do. I create instinctively, spontaneously, in the instant, with my emotions. Each new painting is a surprise, a liberation...
